Officer Facing Reconstructive Surgery, Prosecutors Say Police said that Officer Jason Deaton pulled over a car on Aberdeen Drive and Central Avenue. Deaton then got into a scuffle with the motorist, Eric German, 45, as he tried to take him into custody on suspicion of German's involvement in a hit-and-run crash, police said. An officer arrived 20 seconds after the beginning of the fight and used a Taser gun to subdue German. Deaton was hospitalized overnight and released Thursday morning, but prosecutors said in court that the officer would need reconstructive surgery. German appeared calm in court Thursday as he learned he faced a dozen different charges and his bond would be set to $500,000. When he was asked why he attacked the officer, German made comments about a personal disorder. He did not elaborate further.
