When Lexi was born her family didn't know if she'd survive. She has a rare condition which caused a malformation of her jaw. Doctors discovered her lower jaw mirrored her upper jaw and it was fused to her skull. Lexi couldn't breathe without the help of a Tracheostomy. So when Lexi turned three, doctors determined she was old enough for reconstructive surgery. The procedure would help her grow a new jaw and open up her airway.
