The left-wing head of the National Union of Students has blamed the privatization of education for encouraging young people to fight for Islamic State.
Malia Bouattia, 28, told a debate on Wednesday that young people joining terrorist groups in Syria felt “so disempowered they’re left with no choice”.
Speaking during a debate at University College London, Malia Bouattia, 28, said the “political climate which we’re in” is causing people to take “certain actions and joining these groups and wanting to inflict violence.”
In this video, in an interview with Channel 4 nearly two months ago, Bouttia was under fire for hesitating to condemn ISIS but was more than enthusiastic in condemning Israel. She also would not condemn Palestinian violence towards Israel and blame the Jew media misrepresenting the conflicts.
