Incredible footage shows a huge waterspout captured off the coast of Valencia, Spain, terrifying locals and tourists as it approaches dangerously close to the shore.
Residents in the city of Sueca spotted the sea tornado spinning around the Mediterranean Sea Sunday morning.
The moment was captured on video in the tourist resort of El Perello, with meteorologists stating they had not seen anything like it in over 10 years. The clip that was shared online shows a thick spiral emerging from the sea and going up towards the sky.
The vortex throws water around as heavy grey clouds circle above.
A local living in the tourist resort of Gandia, near to where the waterspout originated, said: "I live in Gandia and when I heard it was coming my way I literally sh*t myself."
Experts say the phenomenon is called a waterspout, a tornado that is formed above seas or lakes.
