On Thursday, President Donald Trump announced his nomination of Neil Gorsuch to serve on the Supreme Court. Democrats have already said they would attempt to block Trump’s nominee. Former President Obama, however, has some advice for Democrats regarding Supreme Court nominations.
In October, while campaigning for Hillary Clinton in Miami Gardens, Fla., President Obama told the crowd, “In this big, diverse country, democracy can’t work if all we’re about is trying to destroy somebody in the other party; if we demonize each other; if we block Supreme Court appointments not because that’s how it’s supposed to work but just because we didn’t win.”
