Drunk Couple get stuck in thick muddy banks in Truro

An intoxicated man and woman sparked a major rescue operation after they became trapped in mud this afternoon.

The stricken couple found themselves stuck in the sludgy banks of the River Truro in Newham, Cornwall for around 45 minutes.

Dramatic pictures show the pair desperately writhing around and trying to escape the steep bank, just feet away from the icy and fast flowing river, before a team of firefighters came to their rescue.
