Police have confirmed that the helicopter crashed in Leonardtown, Maryland.
Three people were reportedly on board – with at least one killed.
Several witnesses observed the chopper spiral out of control towards the Breton Bay Golf Course.
Elizabeth Willing told The Bay Net that she and her friend were kayaking at the time.
“We saw three helicopters. One of them was lagging behind the other two. It started spinning.
"At first we thought it was doing tricks, then it disappeared behind the tree line and then we heard a big bang.
“I saw the down copter peel off to port and disappear behind the tree line as it and a similar helo were heading toward Breton Bay,” Doug Marek added.
“The two copters had flown over Avenmar and made a port turn.”
