Lion attacks circus trainer in front of horrified families

A lion attacked and wounded its trainer during a performance at the Buffalo Circus in Doullens, near Amiens, on May 7.Dramatic video from a woman in the audience shows the lion grappling with the trainer before being subdued, allowing the trainer to escape.
The trainer, named in French reports as Steeve Loberot, was badly wounded in the head and throat, and transported by helicopter to a hospital in Amiens. He was operated on for several hours. Buffalo Circus said he was recovering. In a post on Facebook, the circus also said that, contrary to some early reports, the lion would not be euthanized.
