A man who spotted his stolen car on his way to filing a report at the police station chased down the driver and beat him in the street. The owner was driving a minivan in Bayonne, New Jersey, on Sunday when he spotted his stolen Honda Civic on the road and started following it, police said. The owner eventually cut in front of Ephraim Diaz, who was behind the wheel of his car, and beat him in the street in a vicious confrontation captured on film. The owner's Honda Civic was parked on Broadway between 27th and 28th streets on Saturday night. He was headed to the police department when he spotted his own car heading down Avenue C near 28th Street and started following it, according to Bayonne police Capt. Janine Foy. He eventually cut Diaz off and started punching and kicking him in the street. In a video taken across the intersection, two men can be seen crowded around Diaz, while a woman can be heard screaming for the beating to stop. Diaz managed to get up and run away before he was arrested near 41st Street and charged with taking a vehicle without permission. Foy said the owner loaned the Civic to someone, who then handed it off to another person, although the owner denied that it had been passed off to anyone.
