With large parts of Florida underwater after Hurricane Irma and residents already facing a string of hazards, fire crews have spotted something else they need to worry about. A large alligator was seen casually strolling through a neighbourhood in the Melbourne area of the stricken US state by a stunned firefighter. Authorities have warned people to be on the lookout for dangerous escaped animals after a mass evacuation ahead of the deadly hurricane. Posting a video of a police truck keeping an eye on the reptile, photojournalist Michael Moore wrote: "Not sure the mandatory evacuations apply to this guy."
