A woman and her wife were brutally attacked after a row with their neighbours erupted into violence. Maria Perilla, who posted a video of the fight online, claimed that she and her partner, Isabel Gaviria, had been attacked repeatedly by a mother and her daughter. The trouble started when the lesbian couple were overheard arguing and their neighbours called the police. The married women say they over-reacted for what was a two minute "tiff". They wrote to the neighbours asking them to retract their report to the police, but the letter only served to escalate matters. Maria, from Colombian capital Bogota said: "My wife and I have been together for nine years and we have been married a year and a half. "Last Wednesday we had an argument as all couples do, but it only took two minutes. "We have never had problems before." As the feud went on, Ms Angelica said the neighbours deliberately blocked her parking space and insulted her and her wife over their sexual orientation. Things came to a head when the mother and daughter confronted the married women in a doorway. Ms Angelica said: "Yackeline Hurtado, who is a lawyer, was waiting for me to answer in a violent way, but we only told her to retract [the letter]. "She then started to insult us, saying 'sick lesbians'. "Suddenly, she and her daughter, [Angie Hurtado], started to punch us. "My wife managed to get out of there and ask for help." The CCTV video shows a vicious fight involving all four women. The Lesbian and Gay organisation Colombia Diversa reported the attack as a case of homophobia. Local media reported that the couple had to be treated in a medical centre for the injuries received during the attack, and that Ms Angelica had to take four days off work. The current status of the case was not reported.
