In Interview This Weekend, President Trump Said the Administration is Going to Make a Decision in the ‘Not Too Distant Future’; Senator Says Comments Suggest Administration is Indecisive on Embassy Relocation



With 2018 Fast Approaching, Schumer Reaffirms His Position That Jerusalem is Undivided Capital of Israel & Says U.S. Should Move Embassy to Jerusalem



U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today said that the U.S. Embassy in Israel should be moved to Jerusalem. In June, President Trump signed a waiver delaying the relocation and, soon after, the Senate passed Schumer’s resolution commemorating the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem. More than three months later, Schumer is renewing his call for action.



“This year is the fiftieth anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem, yet with 2018 fast approaching, the U.S. still hasn’t moved the embassy or made clear its commitment to Israel’s capital,” said U.S. Senator Charles Schumer. “President Trump’s recent comments suggest his indecisiveness on the embassy’s relocation. As someone who strongly believes that Jerusalem is the undivided capital of Israel, I am calling for the U.S. Embassy in Israel to be relocated to Jerusalem. Moving the embassy as soon as possible would appropriately commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of Jerusalem’s reunification and show the world that the U.S. definitively acknowledges Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.”



This week, in an interview with former Governor Mike Huckabee, President Trump said, “We’re going to make a decision in the not too distant future.” Schumer today said that the U.S. should move the embassy as soon as possible and make its commitment to Israel’s capital clear.
