The matter made headlines for his praise of police. One article noted "This was in the midst of racial tensions with reports of police brutality swirling."

Blow says, "For me, it's testimony because I've been a minister for 8 or 9 years. Here this thing comes. It's like proof God is real."

Iconic rapper Kurtis Blow feels he was given a second chance at life. In 2015 he went into cardiac arrest and died. "I should be dead" says the hip hop legend.

The artist made famous a song in 1980 called the breaks. Seems he got the biggest break of all. Blow says he medically died for five minutes. Back then, and now, he credited LAPD officers for saving his life. LAPD officers who witnessed him collapse performed chest compressions until an ambulance arrived.

The 58-year-old feels God spared his life for a reason. Blow is also a minister of many years. "A lot of people don't come back from cardiac arrest" he says.
