A bungling robber ended up covered in chilli powder during a botched knife raid, as the shopkeepers fought back.
The inept thief was battered with a ladder, a mobility grabber, an advertising sign and had the spicy condiment thrown on him after he tried to hold up a local newsagents with a large kitchen blade.
He then nearly stabbed his own backside with the weapon as he tried to make off with the loot on a bicycle, the Daily Record reported.
Paul Callaghan's speedy getaway was then dashed when the store's owner grabbed onto his bicycle before he cold race off.
However, shopkeeper Ramyamuki Ithlayanathan was lucky not to be injured when the 45-year-old crook took a swipe at her during the terrifying incident.
