This is the incredible moment beachgoers formed a giant human chain to help rescuers find missing swimmers in Lake Michigan.
At least six swimmers had been reported missing as strong winds had created 5ft-high waves, making conditions in the water extremely dangerous.
Quick-thinking authorities rallied crowds of people together and formed several different human chains in a bid to find the victims at Grand Haven State Park and City Beach.
One of them managed to find a 65-year-old man from Wyoming who was later rushed to hospital in a critical condition, Ottawa County Central Dispatch confirmed.
