The technique has been seen before in these intelligent marine mammals, but it is rare to capture on film and at close range.
The moment was caught by Berthold Hinrichs in the Norwegian Sea off Skjervoy, in the north of Norway this week.
Fish are seen jumping from the water after being driven upwards by the group of whales. This is a classic technique for generating a 'bubble net' used by hunting whales.
