Gavin and Suzanne Webb were brutally punched to the ground in Buxton, Derbyshire, on February 24 in a vicious assault that left them bloodied and bruised.
Jack Lomas, from North Reddish, Stockport, was given a 34-week jail sentence suspended for twelve months after admitting two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
After the hearing, Gavin told Manchester Evening News that the incident was sparked after his wife had complained about a woman swearing in front of her children.
"My Mrs decided to take the kids out of there," he said.
"Lomas ran up to me and said 'how are you?' like he was my friend."
