The National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) has launched an investigation into a video leaked from Jeddah’s Briman Prison showing an inmate being tortured by his cellmates. The inmate was shown with his hands tied to a bed first and then to the ceiling by his feet and left hanging. The victim is in jail for drug abuse. Another prisoner who felt sorry for him leaked the video to his family. Dr. Hussain Al-Shareef, director of NSHR’s Jeddah branch, said if the video was proven to be authentic, the NSHR would take necessary action against the assailants. The Ministry of Interior is also investigating the video.
