Has this kid been given a basic civics lesson? Even when the founders of our country, the elites, decided that the British crown had lost its legitimacy to govern over America, they never to my knowledge advocated assassinating King George III or Lord North, or anyone else. The founders only advocated shedding any association with the British government, and establishing their own government. The only reason that blood was shed--not thru assassination at all, but rather due to British attempts to stop the intended American disassociation by force of arms--was because a war thereby ensued by default. If the Diebold voting machines continue to be verifiably "unverifiable" in any pentultimate sense, then we, the citizenry, might at some point have legitimate need and purpose of pursuing and redressing whatever "social contract" was idealized by Locke, and referenced by Jefferson, Morris, and Madison. But please teach this boy that the Boston Tea Party was about TEA--NOT about assasinations. If the people ever legitimately protest en masse, and insist on the fruition of the Lockean social contract, then it should be by non-violent means. If any president ever ordered the military to fire on its own citizens who were protesting legitimate transgressions of the social contract by the government, then it would be a Tiananmen-style situation, where either the military would either fire on the common "Volk", or not, as could be negotiated between the masses and the army. I cannot conceive of our own military firing at us en masse if we had legitimate grievances. The world would not sit idly by and let us be slaughtered...or would they? In any case, such situations by their very nature, whether in the late 18th century, or today, are not pursuant to assassinations. Assasinations, I believe, are against international law as well. This boy should be taught where the real power lies, with the people. Assasination and credible threats of it, only beg for long federal prison terms, and quite rightly so. Thank God that this boy's type of threatening speech is NOT protected by the 1st amendment! He scares me big time! But...will his parents/caregivers get him up to snuff in time?
