Setup

Whoo... as someone who's been to prison... This was a setup - note the victim's jumpsuit is a different color. This is a typical method of categorizing inmates according to risk. Around here, white jumpsuit generally means high risk and should be segregated for reasons of potential violence (giving and recieving) or maedical. Unless you are coming in with a murder beef, the low-brain inmates assume white jumpsuit means you are contagious,a rat, or sex offender. Any of which is a good reason to kick your ass. Knowing all that, I would say this boy was deliberately sent into a situation for the purpose of having him beaten.

Tonskerization

C'mon it's a common prison occurance known on the inside as a "tonskerization." A tonskerization of this kind is healthy for a prison environment. At the sacrifice of just one inmate many, many weapons remain unused, many dicks remain in pants and potential riots are averted. Who could ask for anythig more?
