What a farse!!! You people are stupid!!!
I don't know who posted this, but it is a total fake. The F-18 shown is one of the first test aircraft delivered to Patuxent Naval Air Station (identified by the white vertical stabilizer and blue leading edge trim) The A-4 that is "shot" down hasn't been in the US inventory for over 20 years. Believe this and forward at your peril, it is a total fake....
P.S. The A-4 is a drone, remotely piloted from the ground, nobody is in the cockpit....
a4 "Shoot Down"
Looks like the bomb rack fell off, object down and away, note there was no motor start on it. I think the vid is real but the title is misleading. They did keep A4s in the inventory for awhile for drones and "aggressors" the Halo 2 overdub is bullshit
I have this video from the "Challenge Of Flight" video series.
It told the story of this. That A-4 was no drone. Watch towards the very end and you'll see the cockpit ejection. You can also tell a pilot was really trying to get control of the aircraft after the impact. The A-4 was flying too close to the F-18 testbed. For the record, drones are never used as chase planes.
An addendum to my comment...
As an addendum, you can watch the pilot make a last minute attempt to break away from the bomb before impact as well as watch him drop his drop tank on the way down.
Complete crap
I can't believe the amount of idiotic people posting here. Here is the narrated video: http://www.kaneva.com/asset/assetDetails.aspx?assetId=3890 Neither are "drones", both are manned, it's not an airshow, and nothing was "shot down". A bomb deployment from the F-18 went awry, taking the pylon with it. The chase plane was filming the test. It obviously wasn't supposed to happen like this, and was just a freak accident. Both occupants of the chase plane safely ejected. See the above link (which itself is improperly titled as "F-14") for the truth. Also, I have no idea why this totally unrelated audio is dubbed over this video. It adds nothing to the video, and frankly, I don't know why people like to spread drama and lies. This was an accident during a test; nothing more. Not a "shoot down".
F-14
The music is cool though! Does anyone recognize it?
hornet farse
The music is from the game Halo.
