All that was offered to explain was him saying the guy told him to take his business elsewhere...what did he to to make the guy say that? For all we know he tried to rob the store or offered to blow the clerk.

some common sense would help

the arabs were probably pissed of that they shit their pants when the dude walked in with virtual jessie james mask indicating a possible hold up. a little common sense on the victims part would have probably avoided the crime.

Seriously though a guy walks into a convenience store dressed all in black with his face covered.. what do you expect... it can't be that cold in that city that he can't be sociable and take it off.... he was probably beaten for looking like he was gonna rob the place, smart mouthing 3 angry dudes and then laying the first punch ontop of all that... no sympathy really.
