Homeowners in Murray, Utah, are being fined for flying the American Flag. The Homeowners Association (HOA) of Chestnut Place condominium community informed residents last week to take down any flags they had outside their residences. Erin Worthen refused, and, as a result, was fined $75 and given a notice, stating, "All exterior decorations must be removed within 10 days following the holiday ... Please remove your flag from the common area (Utah Community Association Act. 57-8a-219)." Homeowners attempted to address the issue at an HOA meeting last week, but with the room already full, and the meeting set to take place, board members canceled it at the last second. On "Fox and Friends Weekend" this morning, Worthen explained that the HOA is trying to classify the American flag as a holiday decoration. "The majority of the homeowners are supporting me," Worthen said. "I've talked with more than half of them, and they're all in support." "The men and women who serve our country do a job that I know I could not do. This is my way of saying thank you to them and honoring their sacrifice."
