Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson on Thursday compared the process of vetting Syrian refugees wishing to enter the U.S. to a parent protecting a child from a rabid dog. "If there's a rabid dog running around in your neighborhood, you're probably not going to assume something good about that dog," Carson said during a press conference in Mobile, Ala. "And you're probably going to put your children out of the way. That doesn't mean that you hate all dogs." He said it was simply "putting your intellect into motion" to call for a strengthened screening process to weed out potential terrorists before letting more refugees into the country
