It’s hard to believe that as we prepare to ring in 2016, we still live in a world filled with discrimination against anybody who looks different from the “norm”. Jonathan Novick is a 22-year-old man currently living in New York City, and every single day he is the victim of mindless comments regarding his achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism. Novick was diagnosed with the growth condition as a child, but admits having a fairly easy and normal childhood. However, his life changed drastically when he moved to New York City, and despite loving the experience of living in The Big Apple, the increased number of people meant an increased number of public interactions. To offer the world just a glimpse into his day-to-day life, Jonathan created this short documentary titled, “Don’t Look Down On Me”, in which he wears a hidden camera and walks the streets of New York City. What he encounters is nothing short of disturbing. “I wanted to stop telling people what happened to me and I wanted to start showing people what happened to me. I wanted to show everyone what a day in my life was like…”
