Last night, the world lost not just one of the greatest music stars in the world, but without a doubt one of the greatest people to have graced our planet in the last century. The work David Bowie has left behind – whether it’s his music, films, art, whatever – it is without a doubt some of the most inspired and timeless pieces known to man. Bowies thoughts and ideas have always been well and truly ahead their time. I mean, this was the man who introduced Ziggy Stardust to the world.Now, an interview between David Bowie and Jeremy Paxman from 2000 has resurfaced, with Bowie making, what were at the time, very bold claims and thoughts on the future of the internet and the music industry. Bowie talks with almost prophetic accuracy about how the Internet – which was only really just becoming a household must-have at the turn of the millennium – would eventually become this all-consuming, uncontrollable force, that would inevitably impact the relationship between provider and consumer, artist and fan. Due to the fact every single one of Bowie’s answers is so revelatory, the full interview has been included below; “I don’t think we’ve even seen the tip of the iceberg. I think the potential of what the Internet is going to do to society, both good and bad, is unimaginable. I think we’re on the cusp of something exhilarating and terrifying… It’s an alien life form.” Viral VIRAL Viral VIDEO Viral THOUGHTS Viral FOOD Viral ANIMALS Viral SPORT Watch David Bowie Predict The Future Of The Internet In This Interview From 15 Years Ago Posted on January 11 2016 at 13:45 pm Profile photo of Stefan Armitage Stefan Armitage Administrator Screen Shot 2016-01-11 at 14.59.35 facebookShareButton twittersharebutton Last night, the world lost not just one of the greatest music stars in the world, but without a doubt one of the greatest people to have graced our planet in the last century. For another reminder of just how brilliant and talented Bowie was, check out this video of Bowie and Freddy Mercury’s isolated vocals from their 1984 hit, ‘Under Pressure’. It really is mesmerising. And finally, I’ll leave you with one of my favourite songs of all time;
