ARVADA, Colo. – What a crazy last few days it’s been for a store clerk from Arvada. On Sunday, she helped save a baby girl after her mother collapsed to the ground. “I’m a mother, I’m a grandmother – it’s motherly instinct to worry about children,” said Rebecca Montano. Montano was working behind the counter at her convenience store, when the young mother walked in. The woman grabbed a soft drink and proceeded to check out. “Then all of a sudden she had a glazed look on her face and I knew something was wrong,” Montano said. Montano decided to reach for the baby. All the while, she was trying to talk to the mother – but the woman wouldn’t say a word. She just kept swaying back and forth. “I came over to help the girl and she was having a seizure,” she said. Montano called 911 and paramedics eventually arrived. In the meantime, Montano handed the baby to a customer as she gave assistance to the woman. The woman had a seizure, according to Arvada Police. She’s fine now and so is her baby – all thanks to Montano. People keep calling Montano a hero, but she said she’s just an average person who did a good thing. “It’s people like you who make the world right,” a customer told her.
