Sedric Clayton was sentenced Wednesday to spend the next 30 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to killing his own mother, Anita Washington. Her body was found in a wooded area of Millbrook back in August of 2014. She'd been shot once in the head. A stoic Clayton, who initially pleaded not guilty, appeared before Judge Sibley Reynolds. He was surrounded by his mother’s family before the multi-decade sentence was handed down. Washington’s cousin, Robert Walker, stood beside him and spoke on behalf of the family. This wasn’t Walker’s first visit to Courtroom 1 in Elmore County's courthouse. He was at Anita's side in 2009 at the sentencing of her ex-husband. He was sent to prison for 20 years for shooting her in the head as she picked up her children at school.
