A longtime Colorado motel owner who spied on his guests for decades is coming clean, saying he’s “seen enough.”
Gerald Foos says he started Manor House Motel in Aurora, Colo., for the sole purpose of spying on his guests from fake celing vents.
The now-octogenarian decided three years ago that he was ready to have his story told by Gay Talese, the renowned journalist with whom he first began corresponding in 1980.
Now, 36 years later, Talese published “The Voyeur’s Motel” in this week’s New Yorker, recounting all he learned from meeting Foos in person and reading his journals sent to him over the years.
The peeping proprietor said he bought his hotel in 1966 and made sure there was space above the rooms, so he and his wife could see what those below were up to — and sometimes even have sex above them.
