Police in Savannah, Georgia say a woman suspected of shoplifting at a grocery store took off and left a baby behind when she was spotted by a store worker.
The suspect is identified as 31-year-old Lesha Reed.
She has many previous run-ins with the law, including a series of shoplifting charges as recent as last month.
She faced a charge of cruelty to children in 2009, as well as failing to pay child support.
Police say Reed abandoned a baby and fled a Kroger grocery store Monday when a loss prevention officer recognized her and suspected her of shoplifting.
Police say she was watching the child for a friend or acquaintance.
