A family car almost swallowed up by a massive sinkhole which burst open on a residential street in London has now been hoisted free.
It took the arrival of a large crane, after a tow-truck and smaller crane failed in an attempt to remove the vehicle from a 10ft deep crater.
Woodland Terrace in Charlton in the south east of the city has been closed after the road's surface gave way overnight following 24 hours of heavy rainfall.
The seven-seater Vauxhall Zafira was left on the road by Ghazi Hassan, who was visiting his brother on Wednesday night.
