Venezuela’s government is rejecting an opposition-led call to recall President Maduro amid crippling power outages and shortages that have emptied stores, driven up inflation, forced schools to close Fridays and civil servants to go home half the week. But rationing's also triggered huge resentment and growing mob violence in a nation already home to one of the planet's highest homicide rates.
