Fox News Host Shepard Smith goes off on Governor Bobby Jindal for saying 'All Lives Matter'

During a Sunday broadcast, Fox News anchor Shepard Smith scolded former Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal for daring to use the phrase “all lives matter.” Smith slapped at Jindal and insisted that the phrase is seen as a “derogatory” and racist term.

Smith was interviewing Jindal as the nation groped for answers for the shooting of three Baton Rouge police officers on Sunday morning. During the interview, Jindal insisted that “all lives matter” and said that as a nation we have to end the unnecessary bickering over just whose life is or isn’t important.

“It is time for folks across party lines,” Jindal told Smith, “across ideological lines, to condemns this violence, to condemn this insanity, we’ve got to come together, we’ve got to say that all lives matter. It doesn’t matter what color you are, black, white, brown red, it doesn’t matter, all lives matter. We’ve got to protect and value our police.”

But Smith immediately jumped on Jindal for saying “all lives matter” and hinted that he thinks the phrase is a racist term that shouldn’t be used.

“Governor,” Smith said quickly, “you know that that phrase you just used is one that’s seen by many as derogatory, right? And I just wonder why you used that phrase when there’s a certain segment of the population that believes it’s a real dig on ’em?”

Jindal vehemently disagreed with that characterization telling Smith that as a nation we have to “move beyond race.”
