India has successfully tested a new rocket engine from its southern launch center of Sri-hari-kota. The launch of the new engine will substantially bring down costs of space launches, making India the third country to have the technology, after the United States and Australia. The three-ton engine is named SCRAMJET, and instead of using fuel and oxidizers for the combustion process, the rocket engine is able to use atmospheric oxygen to burn fuel, which reduces the overall weight of the rocket and increases its efficiency.
