Darren Seals, the man at the forefront of the Ferguson protests which turned into rioting, looting and mayhem, was found shot to death inside a burning vehicle on Tuesday in St. Louis County, according to local news reports.
Seals became a prominent figure during the protests in Ferguson, a suburb northwest of St. Louis, in the summer and fall of 2014 after the justified shooting of Michael Brown.
Michael Brown was shot on August 9, 2014, after Brown stole a package of smokes and then assaulted the store owner.
When police arrived, Brown attacked officer Darren Wilson, reaching for his gun. Wilson fired several shots in Brown, killing him.
A false narrative, spread by Seals and other BLM activists that Brown had his hands up and begged police not to shoot has been proven a falsehood.
A day after the shooting, rioting began in Ferguson, at least 12 businesses were looted or vandalized and a QuikTrip convenience store and gas station was set on fire , leading to over 30 arrests.
The unrest continued for a week, with Seals as one of the frontmen, leading the protests and unrest.
"It's easy to kill black people because we're the have-nots," he said. "We're at the bottom of the totem pole. What people don't understand is, we actually live in a nightmare. We actually live in a place where gunshots [are normal]. We hear gunshots every day."
Seals' remains were found at around 1:50 a.m. on Tuesday morning in a charred vehicle on the 9600 block of Diamond Drive , a dead-end street about 10 miles north of downtown St. Louis, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The newspaper reported that authorities have not released any information about a suspect or a possible motive in the killing.
