State Department official admits ISIS is using the Mexican border to smuggle in terrorists

A State Department official admitted Wednesday that it is beyond doubt that ISIS is attempting to smuggle terrorists into the US by having them pose as refugees.

State Department Spokesperson Rear Admiral John Kirby (Ret.) appeared on Fox & Friends this Morning and said he “wouldn’t debate the fact” that “there’s the potential for ISIS terrorists to try to insert themselves,” among Syrian refugees.

“We’ve seen that in some of the refugee camps in Jordan and in Turkey, where they’ll try to insert themselves into the population.” Kirby said.

Kirby then spent the remainder of the interview attempting to convince viewers that the tens of thousands of refugees being admitted to the country are bring “stridently vetted,” yet he admitted that the vetting system is “not perfect.”

“I would tell you that the more than 10,000 now Syrian refugees that we’ve admitted into the country, by this month, have all been extremely and very stridently vetted.” Kirby claimed.

“There’s certainly not the same amount of information you have on individuals there that you would have here.” Kirby said, then claimed “they are going through a very serious inter-agency vetting process, the most that any refugee goes through.”

“Is it perfect? Can it be perfect? Can it be foolproof? Well, probably not, no. But it is very, very serious.” Kirby said.

Kirby added “We feel good that it is — it’s done appropriately, it’s done thoroughly, that the vetting is good.”

The State Department spokesman also argues that the “bulk” of recent terrorist attacks “are not from refugees.”

National security officials and experts have been warning for months that the refugee vetting system is woefully below par.

Head of the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Michael McCaul, has previously said that “There are a lot of holes — gaping holes,” in US defenses.
