NORTH LITTLE ROCK (KATV) -- A North Little Rock teenager was arrested after a video surfaced on Facebook showing him giving suspected marijuana to a young child, according to police.
Lamel Lamont Yancy, 17, is charged with first degree endangering the welfare of a minor.
A North Little Rock police officer was searching Facebook for burglary suspects in the Rose City area when he came across Yancy's page, which was open to public view at the time. The officer came across a video that police say showed Yancy and a three-year-old boy in a vehicle.
In the video, Yancy was smoking what he described as marijuana. The video showed Yancy offering the suspected marijuana to the child, who was seen smoking it several times during the recording. The child referred to it as "weed." Yancy stated in the video the boy was high.
The child's mother is seen getting into the back seat while Yancy continues to smoke inside the car. The mother objected when Yancy again offered the marijuana to the child. Yancy is then heard telling the child he will smoke with him later.
Police identified the three-year-old and the mother, who were interviewed by DHS. The child was taken to the hospital for hair follicle testing.
The mother has not been charged in this case. Police have not said whether they expect her to be or not.
Yancy was arrested Monday. He is being charged as an adult and was booked in the Pulaski County jail on $2,500 bond.
