One Year after the Paris November 2016 massacre where ISIS terrorists butchered and tortured a total of 130 innocent people, the Bataclan Theatre reopened with a concert by the musician "Sting". The Band played a song called "Inshallah" (إن شاء الله, ʾin shāʾallāhu), which translates to "Allah willing" or "If Allah wills it". To many it seemed inappropriate to praise Allah in a reopening ceremony where 89 Frenchmen were brutally slaughtered by radical Muslim Extremists. The Paris theatre denied the band original band "Eagles of Death", that witnessed the attacks first hand while performing one year ago, entry, after frontman Jesse Hughes made politically incorrect statements that the Muslim staff might have been cooperating with the ISIS gunmen. The visitors at the concert seemed to perceive the song positively and gave thunderous applause - probably because they thought of something else that Allah might will.
Full lyrics:
“Inshallah”
Sleeping child, on my shoulder,
Those around us, curse the sea.
Anxious mother turning fearful,
Who can blame her, blaming me?
Inshallah, Inshallah,
If it be your will, it shall come to pass.
Inshallah, Inshallah, If it be your will…
As the wind blows, growing colder,
Against the sad boats, as we flee,
Anxious eyes, search in darkness,
With the rising of the sea.
Inshallah, Inshallah, If it be your will, it shall come to pass.
Inshallah, Inshallah, If it be your will…
Sea of worries, sea of fears,
In our country, only tears.
In our future there’s no past, If it be your will, it shall come to pass.
Inshallah, Inshallah, If it be your will, it shall come to pass.
Inshallah, Inshallah, If it be your will…
