WASHINGTON (WWLP) – Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is calling for the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to investigate what she says are conflicts of interest in the presidential transition process. Warren, along with fellow Democrat Rep. Elijah Cummings, sent a letter Wednesday to Comptroller General Gene Dodaro asking for the examination of President-Elect Donald Trump’s transition.
In the letter, the Democrats contend that Trump has so far failed to set up a qualified blind trust for his business holdings. They also fault him for billing the Secret Service $1.6 million for flights, when the president-elect has been traveling on a plane that he himself owns. They also raise questions about a phone call between Trump and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull that was reportedly received on the president-elect’s personal cell phone, as well as meetings with business partners.
