In a performance at a charity event for the African nation Malawi on Friday, the pop singer expressed her disappointment in her country for electing a candidate like Donald Trump.
“It just really makes me feel ashamed, ashamed to be an American, ashamed to be a human being really,” Madonna said according to the Associated Press.
The singer performed a slowed-down version of Britney Spears’ 2003 hit “Toxic” while images of Trump appeared behind her, which many viewed as a direct shot at the President-elect.
