The presidents of Russia and Turkey have called the attack a provocation aimed at disrupting the warming ties between the two countries.
Kwon Jangho has the latest.
Caught on video, the Russian ambassador to Turkey, Andrey Karlov, is shown giving a speech when the gunman, wearing a suit and tie, opened fire from behind him,... shouting, "Don’t forget Aleppo, don't forget Syria" in Turkish, and other exclamations in Arabic.
The gunman, identified as 22-year-old off-duty police officer Mevlut Mert Altintas, was killed shortly after the attack.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said the murder was a provocation aimed at undermining Russia-Turkey ties and the peace process in Syria and has ordered heightened security at Russian embassies around the world.
