BRISBANE, Calif. - A wild police chase involving a stolen tow truck from San Leandro ended with the arrest of one person along Highway 101 near Brisbane Tuesday morning.
The incident was first reported around 3:00a.m.
Officers began pursuing the vehicle in the East Bay, but the chase went across the Bay Bridge, onto surface streets in San Francisco, before finally ending on Highway 101 near Brisbane.
Crews at the scene say the suspect jumped out of the tow truck after all the tires were flattened by spike strips and then ran across the other side of the freeway through traffic to evade police.
Officers got out on foot and stopped oncoming traffic to chase the suspect and were eventually able to arrest the suspect.
Traffic was briefly delayed by this incident by all lanes were cleared by 5:00am.
It's not clear why or how the suspect stole the tow truck in the first place.
No injuries have been reported.
