KISS frontman Gene Simmons said he never got a call about performing at Trump’s inauguration ceremony and people should stop trying to use politics as a tool.
Simmons joined Fox & Friends Friday morning where he addressed the rumors KISS might be performing at the inauguration and said that musicians political leanings shouldn’t matter to anybody.
“Why does anybody give a squat what a guy in a band thinks about or anything like that,” Simmons said. “The last thing I want to do is ask President Obama what he thinks about Led Zeppelin.”
“The problem with even talking about this is everything has become so polarized,” Simmons said of the performance rumors. “People should just give it a rest and stop trying to use politics, or what our president-elect means or doesn’t mean, as some kind of tool.”
“Look, a wake up call is that Al Qaeda…and all the other bad guys of the world actually don’t make a difference between Republicans and Democrats or anybody, they just don’t like Americans. So, maybe we should all sign up for the American political party and get used to it–we have a president-elect, now let’s move on.”
“My New Years resolution is to get up every day and decide, ‘You know what, I don’t need anything else, I live in America.'”
