A little boy’s playful act of throwing firecracker into a sewer led to a small blast causing momentary panic in Nanchong City of southwest China’s Sichuan Province.
The entire incident was captured by the community’s surveillance video camera. According to the video footage, the boy was initially shown skating on an open road along with another friend. Later, he tossed the firecracker into the sewer and within seconds there was a blast, which blew off the manhole cover.
Though the boy got knocked down, he was unhurt. Local residents were seen running away from the site after the blast, and no one was reported to be injured.
Local police had issued a warning before the Spring Festival holiday that children must be accompanied by their parents while setting off firecrackers, and that it should be done in open grounds with few people around to avoid accidents.
