Police Helicopter Cam High Speed Pursuit Massachusetts State Police Air Wing.
State Police Arrest Dighton Man Following High Speed Pursuit from Cape Cod to Middleborough.
On February 20, 2017 at about 9:30 a.m., Barnstable Police attempted to stop a 2017 Hyundai Sonata in their town. The operator refused to stop and a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit continued on local roads and highways from Cape Cod to Middleborough, including Route 6, Route 3, Route 44, Route 105, Route 28, and Route 495. Several local police departments were involved in the pursuit, including Barnstable, Sandwich, Plymouth, Carver, Lakeville, and Middleborough, with Massachusetts State Police cruisers maintaining a secondary, supporting role. A helicopter and flight crew from the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing was particularly instrumental in maintaining visual contact with the fleeing suspect.
During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle drove at an extremely high rate of speed and contrary to traffic, on Route 44 in Plymouth and Route 495 in Middleborough. Two Sandwich Police cruisers were damaged when they maneuvered to avoid being struck by the fleeing vehicle.
