As if straight out of an action movie, an auxiliary policeman punched a hole in the windshield of a car that was speeding away from a traffic checkpoint in Xinchang County, east China’s Zhejiang Province.
Surveillance footage shows a black sedan simply driving off after auxiliary policemen stopped the vehicle, hitting a police motorcycle and lifting one of the officers onto its hood.
The officer held onto the hood for about one kilometer before the sedan was stopped by a white SUV and two black sedans.
Traffic authorities eventually took in the driver of the runaway car. Fortunately, the officer was uninjured.
"Because the sedan had already accelerated, I might have been hurt if I’d let go. So I knocked on the windshield with my walkie talkie, but he didn't stop even after I knocked a hole in the windshield," said Liang Xingdong, the auxiliary policeman.
The 64-year-old driver, also surnamed Liang, said that he fled the checkpoint because he was not in the mood.
"I could not hear things clearly and could not figure things out. I was in a bad mood and my mind got confused too. My vision was blurred and I had no idea what was going on," said Liang.
At present, the driver is detained on suspicion of obstructing official duties.
