A six-months-pregnant Ohio mother of two was shot to death in her family's home after her boyfriend decided he didn't want to father a child, the victim's dad said.
Julia Young, 36, was found dead in her family's Medina home Monday by her mom and one of her sons. She had been killed by on-and-off boyfriend Cedric Jones, 43, who also killed himself.
'He didn't want the baby,' her father, Philip Duke, told Cleveland.com. 'I don't know if this is his way of dealing with it. We'll never know.'
Julia was known locally as a caring volunteer who helped female victims of domestic violence. She had two sons, aged ten and 13. Both were from a previous relationship.
Her relationship with Jones was tumultuous, police said.
'We're still trying to figure it out,' Lt. Dave Birckbichler explained. 'They had an on-and-off relationship, but we're trying to determine where that stood.'
A memorial Facebook page has been started, and the group will have a vigil in the town square on Friday from 7-9pm.
The group has also hung purple and pink ribbons around the area in memorial.
'People have asked about the ribbons,' the group page posted Tuesday. 'We choose pink and purple wrapped together... purple for domestic violence and pink for the baby.... we wanted both of our girls represented.'
