Shocking footage showing the moment a young woman was ambushed and beaten by another girl has emerged online.
The clip shows the girl being stalked and goaded by a gang as she walks along a footpath with a young male.
But after she turns to face the gang she is viciously set upon by one female who kicks and punches her repeatedly.
The violence was filmed and uploaded to the internet and has been viewed more than 47,000 times on Facebook.
A girl who filmed the melee can be heard egging on her friend and encouraging her to land more blows on her victim who can he heard screaming to be left alone.
The girl with the phone can then be heard saying she is going to kick the victim for calling her names and appears to move closer to her and strike out.
The incident is believed to have been recorded in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, and has been shared by relatives of the victim.
The clip ends when a passer-by can heard intervening despite being told to keep out of the fight.
A relative of the victim wrote on Facebook: 'Please share and help find the two girls who attacked my niece.
'She doesn't know the girls they just chased her and attacked her. No one should have to go through that.
'Please help find these girls so they can be punished. I think they are from the Coatbridge area.'
The footage has been condemned by Facebook users who told of their outrage with one woman saying her son was involved and she would be reporting him to the police.
She said: 'The police are coming for you all. I personally called them. My son's in this video and I can assure you he will reap what he has sown. Bunch of vile delinquent bullys.'
Anne Rennie said: 'This is terrible, hope your niece is ok and they catch those responsible.'
Karen Campbell posted: 'This makes me sick to my stomach. Hope you find out who did this. Obviously dragged up..totally disgusting behaviour.'
Ashley Smith added: 'I hope their mothers are ashamed. Should be locked up! Bullies.'
Angela Paton said: 'The wee rat filming this sounds like the ring leader and the rest her puppets I hope they get them and I hope the parents are proud of there scum kids.'
Debbie Cairns wrote: 'The person recording this is sick! This is a shocking thing to do! Poor girl! Why are kids so vile to other kids. And why is no one helping her?'
