Police were called after two friends duct-taped their unfortunate pal to a road sign because he lost a basketball bet.
Miguel Chavez, 17, was secured to the post next to a busy road in Houston, Texas, by the pranksters after losing a bet on the Rockets-Warriors game.
Cops arrived and threatened to Taser a man who was approaching with a knife - before realizing the stranger only wanted to cut Chavez free.
A video posted on Wednesday shows one of the tricksters yelling 'We're going to tape this boy up!' as he claps two rolls of duct tape together.
A dejected Chavez stands on a stool next to the pole as his gleeful friends circle him, wrapping him in tape.
When the midsection of the body's teenager is completely secured to the sign, they kick the stool away - leaving Chavez suspended in the air.
His laughing friends head off and can be heard yelling: 'The police are here!' as an ambulance and other emergency response vehicles drive up.
Describing the moment, Chavez wrote on Instagram: 'At this moment I knew I f***** up. No one wanted to help me down.'
One of the friends responsible for the stunt boasted: 'Told this fool don't be #Betting against me. He ain't wanna pay up so we taped his a** up on the pole.'
When police arrived they intercepted a man with a knife.
'Drop the knife or I'll Tase you,' one officer shouted, WTSP 10 News reported.
After realizing the man's kind-hearted intentions, they helped him get Chavez down and gave the teenager a lift home.
Nobody was arrested or detained after the incident.
