Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who previously had claimed there was “more than circumstantial evidence” of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence, appeared to soften his previous statement on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday.
Asked if he could say definitively that there was collusion, Schiff told Jake Tapper, “I don’t think we can say anything definitively at this point.”
Previously, Schiff had told MSNBC’s Chuck Todd that “there is more than circumstantial evidence now” regarding Trump-Russia collusion.
Schiff appeared to retreat to a more cautious position Sunday, only saying that the situation merited investigation.
“The only thing I can say is that it would be irresponsible for us not to get to the bottom of this,” Schiff said.
